Honoring Sacrifice. “The Weight of Memory”
Marc Herring maintains a deep affinity for 1940s Americana and World War II themes, honoring those who sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoyed today. These works are not depictions of spectacle, but meditations on gratitude and remembrance.
Land and Home
This collection is a deeply autobiographical map of home, legacy, and the continuum of time. Every artifact, piece of produce, and relic featured in these paintings was source directly from my home, or neighboring local farms, grounding the classical studies in a specific sense of place and personal history.
Childhood Memories
Toys and childhood artifacts are just generic, vintage aesthetic choices. They are a parent’s (My) tribute to their children’s early years. Specifically highlighting favorite books, (“Hello, Freight Train!“) paired with sports activities, and one of my favorite portraits of my daughter anchors the collection in a deeply felt, parental‘s perspective of watching a child grow.
Landscapes
To escape the rapid unending monotony and stress of our modern daily lives, nature offers us true catharsis, a respite to center us and reset our purpose.
